As you can see I have an iPhone, an iPad, an Apple Watch, a MacBook & an Apple TV. My Apple Products.
Each piece of hardware does something unique that the other can not do - and serves a separate purpose.
Let me break it down for you.
Let's start with iPhone.
My iPhone is my daily driver. The thing that I do everything on - on a daily basis.
My iPhone runs all of my apps; my Bible, phone calls, text messaging, emails, social schtuff, calendar, reminders, GPS (when needed), majority of my Morether business, mobile banking and a whole lot more.
All-in-all an extremely powerful device that I would have a hard time living without.
Next, my iPad.
I use my iPad a lot less than any of my other devices but it is equally as powerful - in a different way. I use it at work ALOT. My office is in the lower level of my building but most of my work involves me being upstairs with the majority of our users that we support.
Drumroll please - iPad.
I also play in the worship band at church and we use electronic chord charts - iPad. I also use it for minimal personal things, but mainly work and church.
Apple Watch
My Apple Watch allows me to be stealthy! I use that word to sound cool. Really, it just quietly alerts me of my notifications, right on my wrist.
It also does some productive things - like allows me too quickly and conveniently set a timer, sometimes even with my nose; imagine that. Especially when I'm grillin' and dealing with raw meat, but that timer is crucial, gotta pull out the nose to get the job done.
Umm... it also umm... tells time. Pretty accurately, too. Right, time, that's the whole point of a watch, right?
I do have a tragic story about my Apple Watch though.
One day I was moving these rather large high back chairs from upstairs to our basement. For this particular move the easier route was to go out the back door and down those steps.
So I started, confidently, throwing the chair on my back like a boss, I started marching down the stairs. Until the railing started, and the pathway got thinner, and I had to adjust everything I ever knew about life.
My momentum was already taking me down so I literally almost rolled with it. I switched my hands to the outside of the chair for a better grip and next thing I hear is the sound of glass grinding up against concrete.
I quickly pulled my wrist away from the foundation of the house and had to keep marching down the stairs because this chair was going, with or without me. So I get to the bottom of the stairs and quickly put the chair down, praying that my watch wasn't cracked.
Well - it was, but not too bad, just some scuff marks. But still, scuff marks on an Apple Watch, very tragic.
MacBook
This is a new addition to my pile of Apple toys. My Mac is solely used for work. And not my day job work, my Morether work.
Photoshop, messaging, website updates and a whole lot more technical terminology that I won't bore you with. I use my Mac daily, and it's crucial to my productivity after work hours.
Lastly, my Apple TV.
We cancelled Comcast cable about a year ago, switching to internet only. Tough transition but not near as tough as we thought it would be. With that, and having a limited Smart TV, we had to get a streaming device. Being the tech nerd that I am, I started experimenting.
I tried the Chromecast. Granted, I bought the Chromecast when we still had cable and were not solely streaming but I wanted to try it out. The Chromecast is a very limited device, but for the price it was pretty cool.
A little back story here.
Weeks before we decided to commit to cancelling cable, I started my research process. Being highly saturated in the Apple ecosystem already, I settled on the Apple TV. I looked into all the others of course, but didn't need to spend any more time on this project.m
Back to business.
The day came when I would go to Best Buy to purchase our Apple TV. But something happened - something in my mind switched and I was 100% on the Roku train.
So we tried the Roku TV. The Roku was great. Extremely powerful, exactly what we were looking for. But it wasn't enough. Who am I kidding... it was all that we needed. It had all the apps that we needed - Netflix, YouTube, CBS, NBC Sports, Sling, Playstation Vue, everything. The Roku was great!
Then - I had an encounter with an Apple TV at a friends house. I was immediately reeled back in. That weekend I went and purchased an Apple TV and have been using it happily ever since.
There is something strangely satisfying about having all of your devices sync so seamlessly without having to think.
I am a simple man, with simple tools to help me be productive and stay organized.
That's it. That's all I've got.
